Feather, teardrop, blade and rectangle flags: how to choose

Flag shape changes how visible your message is and how the flag moves in the wind.

  • Feather / blade flags are tall and narrow with a straight edge. They show text and logos clearly and suit roadside and storefront promotion.
  • Teardrop flags curve to a point. Their rounded shape catches wind and keeps the graphic open, which helps on windless days.
  • Concave and convex flags have a curved side and make a distinctive silhouette for events.
  • Rectangle flags look most like a traditional flag and fit a wide logo or a message with several lines.

Choosing a size

Pick the size by viewing distance. For roadside traffic, go tall; for a booth or storefront, a smaller flag is easier to handle and ship. Taller flags need heavier bases.

Single or double sided

Single-sided flags show the graphic through the fabric, so the back reads reversed. Double-sided flags print both sides so the message reads correctly from either direction.

Remember to order the pole and base too — see our guide on flag hardware.
